Utrecht, 24th March 2025: The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) today announces a new partnership with Sustech, a Japan-based provider of sustainability-focused technology solutions.

The collaboration will see Sustech support Japanese financial institutions in adopting global best practices for measuring and managing their emissions associated with financial activities, in alignment with global standards.

The PCAF Standard is a crucial enabler in the measurement and disclosure of GHG emissions and is widely adopted by financial institutions all over the world. Sustech joins a growing list of Accredited Partners, who have committed to supporting their clients in line with the PCAF Standard. PCAF is continually developing robust methodologies for GHG accounting across different asset classes to support institutions in this effort.

PCAF Japan was formed in November 2021, with the aim of further promoting the expansion of the measurement and disclosure of emissions associated with financial activities by the Japanese financial sector. This partnership will enable Sustech and PCAF Japan to foster stronger collaboration, enabling Japanese PCAF signatories to improve their data quality and steer their portfolio.

“It’s great to welcome Sustech, an organisation that shares our commitment to a sustainable future, as our latest Accredited Partner. Together, we look forward to continuing PCAF’s efforts in rolling out the PCAF Standard to Japanese, East Asian and Pacific financial institutions.”
Bart Van Lunteren, Accredited Partner Lead, PCAF.

“We are honored to become an Accredited Partner of PCAF. At Sustech, we believe that robust and transparent carbon accounting is essential for financial institutions to accelerate their decarbonization efforts. Through this partnership, we are committed to supporting Japanese financial institutions in measuring and managing their emissions associated with financial activities, whilst also extending our support to financial institutions throughout East Asia and the Pacific. We will build on that foundation by supporting our customers, including small and medium-sized enterprises, and helping amplify PCAFʼs expertise.”
Yusuke Tanno, President and Representative Director, Sustech, Inc.

About PCAF

The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) was launched globally in September 2019. Currently, more than 570 banks and investors have subscribed to the PCAF initiative. PCAF participants work together to jointly develop the Global GHG Accounting and Reporting Standard for the Financial Industry to measure and disclose the greenhouse gas emissions of their loans and investments. By doing so, PCAF participants take an important step to subsequently assess climate-related risks, set climate targets, and develop effective strategies to decarbonize their portfolios.
